β
1. Unique Faces Count After Group-By-Face π₯
β
After running Group-By-Face, you can now see an estimated number of "Unique Faces" present in all the photos from your event.
β
Why It's Helpful: This feature allows you to find out if you did a good job capturing as many participants as were actually present at the event. β
Quality Assurance: Use this count to ensure you're reaching your photography goals and maximizing coverage.
β
β
2. Capture App Version 4.7 Updates π±
β
We've rolled out some important updates to the Capture App to enhance your shooting experience.
β
Improved Face Tap Boxesπ― The manual face tap boxes are now a more reasonable size, making it easier to select faces accurately. β
"I Understand" Checkbox Visibilityβ We've fixed an issue where the "I Understand" checkbox on the Background Removal Folder popup was nearly invisible in the app's Dark Theme. β
Pro Tip: Using the app's Dark Theme saves a ton of battery life on devices with OLED screens, such as newer iPhones and iPads!
β
3. New 2x5 Scan Card Option for Scanner ID Workflow π
β
Introducing a second option for downloading a PDF of scan cards for the Scanner ID Workflow!
β
Smaller Card Size: Now available in a 2x5 format. β

Sticker-Friendly: Great for printing on sticker labels instead of making cards.
β
β

This weekβs updates include something many of you have been waiting for: the first public release of the Capture App on Android. Alongside that launch, weβve also improved PhotoRoster workflows, tightened up retail safeguards, and rolled out several capture app fixes across platforms.
β
Letβs take a look.
β
π€ Capture App Now Available on Android (Beta)
β
The first Android version of the Capture App (v5.0.1) is now available on Google Play.
β
IMPORTANT:Β This is very new! So it's in BETAΒ at the moment. Meaning, if you want to use Android, we encourage you to try a test Event at your home or office and make sure your flow works with your particular equipment! If you run into any issues, let us know right away!
β
This release brings feature parity with the iOS app (with the exception of Photo Booth Mode and AirPrint, which currently are not planned for Android):
β
π· Supports all of our capture workflows β
β‘ Same improved upload system introduced in iOS v5 β
π Camera-triggered auto-launch support β
π¨ Android themed icon support β
π± Edge-to-edge Android UI support
β
If youβve been wanting to run Capture on Android devices, the foundation is now here!

π± Capture App Improvements
β
iOS β Version 5.0.1 (OTA)
β
A few fixes and small usability improvements landed this week:
β
π Participant not found message when scanning cardsβ
Instead of defaulting to the first participant, the app now clearly shows when a scan doesnβt match anyone.
β
π Image gallery stats now update correctly during uploads.
β
π TKO popup now dismisses properly when setting a folder as TKO.
β
π₯ Windows Capture App β Version 4.21
β
β‘ New image upload API improves upload speed and reduces device resource usage β
π‘ Better behavior when signing into events with no connectivity β
π Event selector now shows only active events when offline, matching iOS behavior
β
π·οΈ Workflow Improvements
β
π₯ Download PhotoTags directly from the PhotoTags pageβ
This makes it simple to reuse or share tags between events.
β
π PhotoRoster uploads increasedβ
Individual image uploads now support up to 5,000 images at once (previously 1,000).
β
π¨ Candy Image Studio Reliability Fix
β
Candy Image Studio uploads now behave more consistently.
β
Edited images will now reliably appear in all the same places as the original image, including:
β
All galleries β
QuicPics texts β
Personal galleries
β
Previously, images only appeared if they happened to match faces or were manually assigned.
β
ποΈ Retail Improvements
β
A couple improvements help prevent confusing edge cases for customers:
β
π₯ Group products now properly enforce group imagesβ
If someone tries selecting a non-group image for a group product, theyβll now see a clear error message.
β
π New international shipping noticeβ
For non-US shipping addresses, customers now see a helpful reminder that customs or import fees may be charged by their country in addition to international shipping fees.
β
π₯οΈ Dashboard Improvements
β
Some smaller UI improvements landed this week:
β
β¨ Toggle switches now animate smoothly instead of appearing choppy.
β
Thatβs the week!
β
The Android Capture App launch is a big step toward expanding device flexibility, and the PhotoTag downloads and PhotoRoster improvements should make event setup a little easier as well.
This weekβs update is a big one. The new Capture App v5 for iOS has officially landed with major performance improvements, a refreshed UI, and some helpful workflow upgrades.
β
On top of that, Candy Culler just got significantly faster, retail got a couple new themes, and several tools across the Dashboard have been refined.
β
Letβs jump in.
β
π± Capture App v5 (iOS) β Major Upgrade
β
Capture App Version 5 brings a full UI refresh, major performance improvements, and several new quality-of-life tools for shooting events.
β
β‘ v5: Faster Uploads & Better Performance
β
A brand-new upload system significantly improves efficiency:
π€ Uploads can be up to ~20β30% faster β
π¦ Payload size reduced by ~25% thanks to image transfer improvements β
π Lower CPU, battery, and memory usage during uploads β
π· Much better memory usage with tethered cameras β
π§ Improved overall memory performance across the app
β
These improvements should make long shooting sessions feel noticeably smoother.
β
πΌοΈ v5: New Image Gallery & Filters
β
The in-app gallery has been redesigned with better filtering and navigation:
Image name search β
Uploaded / Unuploaded status β
Roll filtering β
Event filtering
β
Filters are easy to remove with a single tap, similar to the Dashboard experience.
β
π v5: Duplicate Photo Warning
β
The Capture App can now warn you about duplicate images during a shoot:
Works only within the current session β
Does not upload or save duplicate data β
Can be disabled from the Resources page if desired
β
This works independently from the Dashboardβs Candy Culler duplicate detection, giving you duplicate awareness both during capture and afterward.
β
π§° v5: New Event Overview Info
β
The event overview page now includes helpful connection details:
π‘ Carrier name β
πΆ Cellular generation (if available) β
πΆ Current Wi-Fi network
β
This can help troubleshoot upload issues while shooting events.
β
π¨ v5: Photo Booth Background Packs
β
Photo Booth now supports downloadable background packs:
π Christmas β
π Halloween β
More to come!
β
The default pack is now a downloadable set as well, which keeps the main app much smaller and makes OTA updates faster.
β
π§ v5: Additional Capture App Improvements
β
π International phone numbers supported in Positive ID (were already supported in Tap-A-Face) β
π§ Full vertical images now fit on iPhone screens β
π Update checks run automatically when refreshing events β
π§ Tap-a-Face email validation now matches Check-In pages β
π Upload status updates immediately after each upload β
π² Tablets can now use portrait orientation throughout the app
β
β¨ v5: Complete UI Refresh
β
Version 5 introduces a polished new interface:
Modern sheet-based UI β
Improved dark mode styling β
Larger login and event selection screens β
Updated phone number input interface β
New image details sheet β
Cleaner image gallery layout
β
New popup styling!
β
Vertical orientation for iPad! Yay!
β
Overall, the app feels faster, cleaner, and more modern.
β
π§ Candy Culler: Now 5Γ Faster
β
Candy Culler processing has been dramatically upgraded.
β
β‘ Up to 5Γ more images can now be processed at once, bringing it in line with Jersey Jotter throughput.
β
This means faster detection for:
Duplicates β
Blurry photos β
Exposure issues β
Closed eyes β
Other culling checks
β
π¬ Candy Improvements
β
Candy continues getting faster and smarter:
β‘ Faster Candy responses β
π Faster Candy Navigation results β
π§ Improved event search for newly created events β
ποΈ Refreshed Mini Candy UI
β
Pro tip: Press CMD + A / CTRL + A to toggle Mini Candy.
β
π§Ύ Dashboard Improvements
β
Several useful refinements were made to the Dashboard:
π Fixed Faces Report chart showing empty data β
π§Ύ QR Code generator downloads now export at 1024px β
π Scan card PDFs now sort duplicate participants exactly like the Capture App β
π¨ Offer editor popups for adding products and packages are now wider with product category tabs β
π Event order list diamond-press counts now include quantities correctly β
π§ QR Creator and Image Tester now appear in Sidebar Find
β
π¨ New Retail Themes
β
Candy's Note: We hope you enjoy the pupper pics!
β
π΅ Matcha Theme β a clean green storefront (great for spring or St. Patrickβs Day)
β
β
π Ube Theme β a bold purple theme
β
β
Bonus:Β Retail UI styling also received improvements for tabs, checkboxes, and order tracking.
β
π³ Haptics for Mobile Retail & Check-In
β
Mobile users will now feel subtle feedback interactions when using the site:
Tap feedback β
Success feedback (add to cart, order placed) β
Error feedback
β
This makes mobile ordering and check-in feel much more responsive, alive, and engaging!
β
π€³ Selfie Check-In Improvements
β
The Selfie Check-In site received improvements to the local face recognition model, making it more reliable and stable on more devices.
β
π° QuicPics Adjustment
β
Good news for high-volume QuicPics users:
β
Selfie Check-Ins and PhotoRoster reference images no longer count as billable images.
β
That means QuicPics events that use those workflows will be slightly cheaper overall.
β
π₯ Easier Downloads on iPhone
β
On iOS Chrome: Press-and-hold image downloads now open the iOS Share menu, making it much easier to save images. (iOSΒ Safari already supported this behavior.)
β
π New QuicPics Landing Page
β
The Quic.Pics site now has a proper landing page instead of only a login screen in case end customers stumble across it somehow.
β
Hopefully this helps it seem more legit while still remaining relatively white-label for your photographers out there!
Capture App v5 is a big upgrade, and combined with the faster Candy Culler and several Dashboard improvements, the entire workflow from capture β cull β sell just got smoother.
This week is packed with tools youβll probably use right away: big upgrades to Candy Image Studio, a brand-new Participant Search across all events, and a fun but practical QR Creator.
β
Letβs dive in.
β
π¨ Candy Image Studio: More Control, More Power
β
Weβve made some meaningful upgrades to Candy Image Studio:
β
ποΈ Choose whether to mark the original image invisibleβ
Previously, edits always hid the original. Now itβs your call.
β
ποΈ Multiple edits can coexistβ
Uploading multiple AI edits of the same image no longer overwrites previous ones.
β
π§ New safety agentβ
Automatically checks for edits involving race/ethnicity/skin tone changes or nudity to keep things appropriate.
β
πΌοΈ Generate 2K or 4K outputsβ
4K is recommended for images with text.
β
β‘ Image Lightbox Integrationβ
Click βCandy Image Studioβ directly from an image lightbox to preload it into the Studio.
You can optionally mark the original invisible, and it keeps all participant associations intact for the new image (just like cutouts).
β
If you haven't checked out the AI editor, give it a try!
β
π New: Participant Search Across All Events
β
You can now search participants across your entire account:
β
Search by name or contact info
Access via Tools & More, Sidebar Search bar, or "/participants" directly in the URL
Supports Candy navigation
β
Huge time-saver when you canβt remember or don't know which event someone was in.
The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
